Chief Warrant Officer Tellys H. served 16 years in the Army, highlighted by his time as a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter pilot. After his separation from the Army, Tellys almost gave up his dream of flying until he found the PSA’s Rotor Transition Program. This program is partnered with Sky Warriors Flight School and trains qualified rotary wing (helicopter) pilots to fly fixed-wing planes. After training, the pilots are directly hired at American Airlines.
During the training, Tellys was without an income, so SALUTE, INC. helped his family with utility bill payments. Tellys is enjoying his training and looks forward to achieving his dream of being a commercial airline pilot. Additionally, Tellys has started connecting with other veterans on ways they could give back. One of his goals is to set up a scholarship fund in memory of his two close friends who paid the ultimate price while flying for the military.
Tellys thanked SALUTE with this note:
“One of my mottos is: ‘when life knocks you down, try to land on your back because if you can look up, you can get up. ‘ SALUTE gave me a helping hand getting up. Thank you.”
