Army Staff Sergeant Jack is a combat veteran of both the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Jack was severely injured in Iraq from an IED incident and injured again in Afghanistan. He was awarded the Purple Heart for his injuries and recovered at a military hospital. One lasting legacy of his 11 years of service was a severe struggle with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Homeless and living in his car, Jack finally found a treatment center where he could get relief from his most pressing PTSD symptoms and enrolled in the inpatient program. At the end of the program, Jack was looking to move into an apartment close to the treatment center, so he could continue his therapy. Additionally, the storage fees for his belongings that he stored while homeless were grossly overdue. Jack contacted SALUTE, INC. and asked for “any type of financial help that is possible”. SALUTE paid his storage fees and two months’ rent for an apartment, helping Jack continue his journey to mental wellness.
“I am trying so hard to become the man I once was, and the father as well. I have children who need a dad and many loved ones who need Jack back.
I couldn’t be MORE grateful and more thankful for all the contributors who selflessly donated their hard-earned money to support service members wounded in action, such as myself. I am forever blessed and forever grateful for this organization as well as Americans who care about what we do in defense of this great nation.”
