Captain Brendan committed his life to the U.S. Army for over nine years. Towards the end of his career he needed surgery to alleviate a serious medical problem, and following that, he chose to retire. He and his wife had a happy life and a secure financial situation, until COVID-19 cost Brendan his job. Without an income and while he was looking for a job, the family fell behind on their bills and asked SALUTE for assistance. Brendan’s most pressing need was their overdue car payments, which SALUTE was able to pay, preserving the family’s ability to get to job interviews, doctor appointments and the grocery store. Looking forward, Brendan has a job offer with the federal government and will be in a more stable financial position once he starts there.
