Specialist Martin worked as an Army infantryman for over 10 years and served in the Operation Enduring Freedom/Iraqi Freedom campaigns. Seriously injured during his service, Martin retired from the Army.
One of his lingering service-related injuries was post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which was greatly eased by the companionship of his service dog, Annie. When Annie needed emergency veterinary surgery, Martin had no funds available to pay for the surgery. He and his wife have five children, so all of their disposable income was devoted to rent, car payments, groceries and utilities. SALUTE was able to pay a portion of the surgery costs, and another veteran nonprofit stepped forward to pay the remaining balance. Annie is now fully recovered and back to caring for her veteran Martin.
“I am so thankful that SALUTE, INC. exists to help disabled veterans like myself in times of need and crisis. I am very grateful.”
