Army Specialist Lynn served overseas with the US Army, including a tour of duty in Afghanistan. After her time in the military, Lynn worked in a variety of jobs, but continued to struggle with PTSD and other injuries, while supporting her daughter on her own. At one point, unable to pay her bills, Lynn filed for bankruptcy, and then ended losing all of her possessions to a flood. Unable to deal with her PTSD any longer, she applied to a hospital-based mental health program. Gaining strength from her work there, she was assisted by SALUTE with her rent and utility bills. After a long journey, life is moving in the right direction for Lynn, as she looks forward to starting a new job, which will provide a stable future for her and her daughter.
Lynn wrote to SALUTE:
“We just wanted to say that we are very thankful to you & your organization. You made it possible for my daughter & I to have Thanksgiving in our home instead of in our car or a shelter & for that I’m extremely grateful. No one could have told me it would be this hard for me when I got out the military…. I just wanted to say thank you again & I could never repay what you have done for us but I promise I will pay it forward one day. ”
