Palatine, IL, January 19, 2023 — Team SALUTE is now accepting applications to be a charity runner in the 2023 Bank of America Chicago Marathon. The group is a part of SALUTE, INC., a nonprofit that provides everyday essentials to injured veterans and military families at the most critical time. As a part of Team SALUTE, runners will receive guaranteed entry into the Chicago Marathon, which is now closed to the public.
In addition to guaranteed entry, Team SALUTE charity runners will receive free group or virtual CES & CARA training, branded team apparel, access to race-day hospitality, and invitations to team social events. In exchange, runners will help raise funds in support of SALUTE, INC. and its mission to support military families in need.
“Our charity runners achieve their goal of running a marathon while playing a key role in helping us serve military families,” said SALUTE, INC Executive Director Mary Beth Beiersdorf. “They not only help us provide veterans with funds for things like groceries, rent, and car payments, but they help us spread a powerful message of hope and compassion.”
Once a runner has been accepted onto the SALUTE marathon team, the organization will set them up with a personal fundraising page to help them achieve their fundraising goal of $1,750. The proceeds of the funds raised by runners go directly to assisting military personnel, veterans, and their families.
“One of the things that makes SALUTE unique is that all proceeds from our marathon campaign go to a person or family in need,” noted Beiersdorf. “So not only will runners be able to participate in the Chicago Marathon, but they’ll be doing so much good as they run. Through training and working together, our charity athletes form new friendships each year as well.”
