Palatine, IL, April 25, 2019 — SALUTE. INC., a nonprofit that raises funds to help meet the financial, physical and emotional needs of injured military service members, veterans and their families, announced that there are a small number of spots remaining on TEAM SALUTE for the 2019 Bank of America Chicago Marathon. The team currently consists of 140 runners, but a few slots remain open.
Registration for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon has already closed for individual runners, but by joining TEAM SALUTE, runners will get a charity guaranteed entry.
Not only do runners get entry to the marathon (a $205 value), but TEAM SALUTE runners will also receive race day hospitality near the start and finish lines, VIP gear check, pre- and post-race food, indoor bathrooms, a post-race massage, branded team swag and a team picture.
Starting in June, runners on TEAM SALUTE can also participate in free training (CES or CARA options available) and receive coaching support from TEAM SALUTE Coordinator Sue Hussey, an RRCA-Certified Adult Distance Running Coach.
“This is an incredible opportunity for first-time or serious runners to train for a marathon,” said Hussey. “But more importantly, it’s an opportunity to channel your passions into doing something good. Through the marathon, our runners raise funds for injured military service members and their families during a critical time of need.”
SALUTE, INC. has had a longstanding connection to the Chicagoland running community, using races to raise funds for veterans and military families. And the Chicago Marathon is no exception. The organization sets up a personal fundraising page for each runner, who must raise a minimum of $1,750, which will be donated to SALUTE, INC. These donations will be used to overcome barriers to the physical, emotional and financial obstacles that injured military personnel face when transitioning back home.
Runners interested in joining TEAM SALUTE should contact Sue Hussey at 847-359-8811 or teamsalute@yahoo.com. Registration closes on May 31st or when all spots are taken.
