Julia proudly served in the Navy for four years, and returned home suffering from visible and invisible wounds related to her military service. She was grateful to find a hospital-based mental health program near her home and enrolled in the next session. Barely making ends meet before her program, she reached out to SALUTE for assistance with her car payments. With help from SALUTE, Julia was able to concentrate on her health and begin her new job with a renewed energy.
After years of struggling to find her niche in the post-military world, Julia obtained a job at a community college, teaching young adults with intellectual disabilities. Julia writes that “… It’s incredibly rewarding and my students keep me going. I can’t say enough how much your financial aid saved me in my dire straits.”
